KERALA: The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will announce the World Football League’s inaugural schedule of games on Monday (local time).
The announcement of the schedule is expected to be made at a press conference in Singapore, which is hosting the FIFA World Cup from June 10 to June 13.
Among the players scheduled to take part in the league will be former world champion Lionel Messi, former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Argentina international Marquinhos.
The IOC will also announce the final five squads for the 2022 World Cup.
Among those players to be part of the tournament are Brazilian midfielder Neymar, former world record holder David Beckham, French striker Olivier Giroud and Spain forward Alexis Sanchez.
The first three games of the series, scheduled to be played in October, November and December, will be played at home and away, with the final three games to be held in the stadiums across Asia.
The schedule for the World Champions league will feature a maximum of 14 teams, with a maximum number of 10 players.
The final two games will be held at home in a group stage, with each team competing in the knockout stages to decide the champion.
